In 2014 the NYS DEC retired "combination" licenses (such as the Sportsman license) except for Lifetime Licenses.
Fishing licenses are valid for a full year from date of purchase or for one year after the current license ends. Fishing licenses may be renewed no more than 60 days prior to their expiration.
A "HUNTING" license covers BIG AND SMALL GAME hunting privileges. All other privileges must be purchased separately. These licenses are valid Sept. 1 - Aug. 31
